Portfolio Manager

“Productivity is meaningless unless you know what your goal is.”
Eliyahu M. Goldratt: The Goal: A Process of Ongoing Improvement

János is responsible for the financial management of Mercurio’s portfolio companies and post-acquisition value creation. He began his career in asset management with Prudential’s central risk team in London, where he oversaw group-level risk across its asset management businesses, including M&G and Eastspring. He later joined BlackRock’s Investment Product Strategy team in Budapest. He then moved into entrepreneurship, building two businesses focused on SME financing and financial operations: first as Head of Finance and Risk at Péntech, and later as Founder and Managing Director of Skonto Platform. He considers the generational transition of Hungarian SMEs one of the most significant shifts in the economy. Beyond its economic importance and company-level implications, he believes these transitions require a deep understanding of the people and families behind the businesses.
